2014-15 Workshop Descriptions

Advanced SDAIE Web Tools (8:00am - 3:00pm)
This full day workshop will explore high-tech and low-tech teaching strategies to engage all students, including EL, special education, and underperforming students. These strategies will help students build critical thinking skills which are a necessary component of the common core standards, as well as practice literary techniques applicable to all disciplines. Practical and easy-to-use web tools will be demonstrated and practiced throughout the day. Participants will also be given planning time for use of these tools in the classroom.

The Google Centric Classroom (8:00am - 3:00pm)
Over the course of this workshop, learn how to digitally transform your traditional classroom lessons and activities. Participants will learn how to integrate Google Classroom, Drive, Docs, Presentations, Forms, YouTube, and more into their classrooms. Time will be provided to work on digital lesson planning.

ELA & Google for Beginners (8:00am - 3:00pm)
This full day workshop will help you modernize your English classroom with 21st century skills and increase student engagement. You will learn specific strategies that combine ELA Common Core standards with Google Documents, Forms, and Drive. Provide techniques and tips will be shared and practiced throughout the day.

ELA & Google - Even More! (8:00am - 3:00pm)
This full day workshop builds on the ideas presented in the Chromebook and ELA Workshops. Examine more approaches for bringing reading and writing strategies into your classroom. Methods for increasing your efficiency when using these tools will also be covered. Tools include Google Classroom, Drive, Docs, and Forms.

The Flipped Classroom (8:00am - 3:00pm)
There is a lot of buzz these days about flipping the classroom. This session will go through the different flipped models and explore the free online tools available to bring some aspect of flipped learning to your classroom this fall.
