SAMR Model

In GUHSD, we are using the SAMR to gauge our use of technology in the classroom. This model may not be perfect, but it allows us to critically examine to what degree technology provides transformative experiences for our students.  We have invested heavily in equipment and infrastructure in the last few years and we want to ensure that it is being used in effective and innovative manners.

As you look at this model and consider how your students use technology, consider these items:
  1. Changing your curriculum to include more technology options is a gradual process. What steps are you taking now? What can you do next semester and next year?
  2. Substitution and Augmentation are great places to start. Build your confidence, but be ready to move forward.
  3. Don't be afraid to take a risk.
  4. You do not have to be the master of every tool, let your students help.
